I really wanted to love Color Street. I hate paying a fortune to get my nails done, and the incessant waiting for them to dry is so frustrating. Then came the year without a manicure (not unlike the Year without a Santa Claus – I love the Snow Miser and the Heat Miser – but I digress).
Anyway, Color Street is a MLM company that sells stick-on nail strips. The whole idea is that you can stick them on (after using the included nail prep wipe to get any oils off your nails), stretch them to fit, file off the excess, and voila – a beautiful manicure with no drying time that lasts up to 10 days! The pics on their website and Instagram show people with stunningly beautiful nails. My first attempt using Color Street looked as if a kindergartener put stickers on my fingers.
I tried again, because of course I had bought several colors from my friend’s Facebook Color Street party. (I’m a supportive friend.) The second attempt was a bit better – I learned to stretch *gently* rather than ripping the strip in half. This result was about what my regular self-manicures looked like: the left hand looked reasonably good, and the right hand was a mess. However, several of my nails have deep ridges, and with a regular manicure I can use ridge filler to prime them before polish. Color Street does not have that option, so those ridges really show through.
All in all, I’m giving it a pass for now. I still have a couple of sets, and I may give it another try when I develop more patience. If anyone has suggestions for other options for at-home manicures that dry quickly and look great, please share them in the comments! Thanks!
